Analysis of the Relation Between Spiritual Satisfaction and Anxiety of Adult Hospitalized Patients


Abstract
1. The Purpose : This study was undertaken in an attempt to measure the amount of satisfaction about Spiritual nursing care, the amount of Anxiety, And the correlation between them.
2. The method : The subjects of this study were 124 adult in-patients on a christian hospital¢¥s general ward in Jeonju city during the period of January 21 to 24, 1990.
The research data was collected according to answers given.
Questionnaires regarding the degree of individual satisfaction about the nurse¢¥s spiritual care and Spielberger¢¥s the degree of state anxiety.
The basic clinical spiritual cares were in three categories: 1) the care for Love and Relatedness, 2) the care for Meaning and Purpose, 3) the care for Forgiveness
3. The Results: The following findings were obtained based upon the answers of the inpatients a) The Significant difference was revealed in mean value score of Recognizing the importance of God in life : Anxiety(p=.0004)
b) The Significant positive correlation was revealed in 3 categories of Satisfaction about spiritual nursing care (Between Love & Relatedness
meaning & Purpose (r = .717, p=.000), Between Meaning & Purpose Forgiveness (r =.705, p=.000), Between
Forgiveness Love & Relatedness (r =.560, P=.000)
c) The significant negative correlation was revealed between the satisfaction about spiritual care and anxiety (r = -.244; p--.007)
4. Recommendation
a) Establish a systematic method for spiritual nursing practice in hospital
b) Nurse had better take a religion personally for vulnerable spiritual
c) Clinical experimental study about the effect for spritual care on intensive patients.
